Unforced Errors
Dear Family, Friends and Partners,
Walking onto the football field in a distance, multiple coaches standing together, one stands out, long dreads, a beer belly, giant beard, a bandana. Last year's assistant coach returning. Last season was difficult for him, more so his kid, as they were in a disappointing divorce procedure. This is going to be different he said, seeing the light at the end, judges appeared to be on his side, rolling in his favor, he can finally just support his son, take him to football, take him to school and just be a good father to him. After practice on May 6th, driving off in his Mazda 3 with a smile. In the same Mazda on May 10th, only vehicle on the road, lost control, hit a barrier, not wearing a seatbelt, unforced errors?
We all make unforced errors everyday in our lives, our investment, often not realizing, texting while driving, unhealthy eating, alcohol, vape, not watching our biases, not following our investment process, not putting in effort at work, ignoring safety, the list goes on. I'm guilty of many unforced errors, working on installing vinyl plank flooring in our basement, making small cut, left my safety glasses, not downstairs, not 20ft away, only 5ft away. Shard of vinyl hit less than a mm from my eye, unforced error. What are the potential unforced errors in your lives? Unforced errors reduces our chances of achieving.
Reduced unforced errors separate the great from the mediocre, limiting the double faults, the bad position, separates the Rodger Federer’s of the world, from the unknown. Roger Federer’s commencement speech in 2024, hits these points, showing unforced errors coming on the court, off court, in your head.
